Patrick Lutz
Head of Audit Programme

IOSA Trainer
At Aviation Quality Services Patrick Lutz is responsible for leading the team of auditors based in Frankfurt, Dubai, Johannesburg and Hong Kong. He furthermore signs responsible for the overall development of the audit programs served by AQS, such as IOSA Standard. In addition to these managerial tasks he frequently acts as IOSA Auditor and as an IATA accepted trainer for IOSA auditor trainings (IAT). Before joining AQS, Patrick gained more than a decade of experience in senior management positions within commercial airlines to include responsibility for Quality Management, Safety Management, Security Management and Corporate Communications. Patrick is fluent in German and English and speaks basic Spanish.
Cpt. Gilles Savary, PhD.

SMS specialist
Gilles Savary is working in the Aviation Quality Services auditor team since March 2008. His 22 years work experience ranges from aeronautical engineering on behalf of a major aircraft manufacturer to flight operations including training, management, as well as safety and quality for European airlines. Gilles is fluent in English, French, German and Portuguese.

Charl Dutoit joined the Aviation Quality Services auditor team in 2003 and supported the IOSA programme from the beginning. His background in the aviation world includes 42 years of pilot experience, general management and management in flight operations, training and flight safety with international airlines. Charl is fluent in English, German and Afrikaans.
Werner Putzler

Werner Putzler became a member of the Aviation Quality Services auditor team in 2006. Since then, he has conducted numerous audits on 4 continents. He has over 17 years experience in maintenance, aviation quality and general airline management. Werner is fluent in English, German and Afrikaans.
Cpt. Dr. Jochen Mickel
SMS Consultant and Trainer
Dr. Jochen Mickel became a member of the Aviation Quality Services SMS expert team at the end of 2009. His experience in flight operations, apart of active jet flying, includes hands on flight safety work in a major airline for more than 10 years. He participated in the development and implementation of all SMS components including safety risk management and safety assurance as well as safety promotion. His academic research covers Flight Data Monitoring, safety culture, and risk assessment.
Max Butter
SMS Developer and Trainer
Max Butter joined the Aviation Quality Services team at the end of 2010. He is working as an active pilot in a major airline, where he has gained relevant experiences in flight safety, especially in flight data monitoring and investigations for more than 7 years. In addition, Max Butter participated in the development of safety performance indicators for Safety Management Systems (SMS). His academic research covers Flight Data Monitoring, safety performance indicators and risk assessment. He is fluent in German and English.
Felix Hart

Felix Hart joined Aviation Quality Services in 2007 after a 40 year career in military and airline flying. He has airline experience in general management, Flight Training Centre and operational management and as a flight examiner. Felix has a degree from London City U in Air Safety Management.
Stephan Weber
SMS Developer and Trainer
Stephan Weber joined the Aviation Quality Services SMS Expert Team in summer 2010. His flight operation experience covers eight years of active jet flying and two years as a member of the flight safety department. Thereby he has taken and continues to take part in the development and implementation of the SMS. Besides flying he has studied economics at the Goethe University and holds a master of science in management. In his master thesis he analyses the risk assessment of the flight operations of a major airline.
Daniel Ewers
SMS Trainer
Daniel Ewers became a member of the Aviation Quality Services SMS expert team in 2011 after flying a military aircraft for 9 years. Besides his operational flying experience he was responsible for the implementation and development of CRM Training in the German Armed Forces and has trained CRM and ORM (Operational Risk Management) courses for over 6 years. In addition to his training experience he is also working as a business-coach in different contexts. Daniel is fluent in English and German and holds a Diploma in Industrial Engineering.
Henrik Baark
IOSA Auditor and Trainer
Henrik Baark has been working in the Aviation Quality Services team since the beginning of 2010. In January 2011 he joined the IOSA auditor and trainer team. He is a selfemployed lawyer in the aviation industry and an active Quality Manager for a German airline. During his aviation career he implemented management systems, quality assurance programmes and was responsible for several legal projects, such as sale & leaseback transactions of aircrafts. Henrik is fluent in English and German.
Carlos Sanchez
Trainer
Carlos Sanchez joined the Aviation Quality Services trainer team at the end of 2011. His 20 years of experience ranges from ATC controlling to Flight Operations. For the last 9 years he has been working as Safety Operations Inspector and has been trained to understand the eight critical elements of the Safety Oversight System enforced by ICAO. In 2007 he became the dangerous goods expert for a regulatory aviation authority. He is also a dangerous goods instructor for inspectors recognized by the regulatory agencies in Central America. Nowadays he is an active member of a Central American team that is making significant improvements on this matter. He is fluent in English and Spanish, also speaks intermediate Italian and holds a commercial pilot license.
Kamil Serhat Ustbas
Trainer
Kamil Serhat Ustbas joined Aviation Quality Services in October 2011. Throughout his career, he has predominantly worked in the aviation sector for 15 years. In addition to his flight experience, his background emphasizes numerous achievements and expands upon his proven record of professional expertise within quality management systems, crew resources management, safe transportation of dangerous goods by air, flight safety including flight data monitoring. Kamil is fluent in English, Turkish and intermediate in French. He holds a bachelors degree in Economics and Business Administration.
Cpt. Ernest Wessman, M.Sc.
Trainer
Ernest Wessman joined the Aviation Quality Services team in 2011. In addition to being Captain on the MD-80, he has extensive experience in general aviation, business aviation, and flight instruction. His aviation career includes the positions of Auditor, Quality Manager, Accountable Manager and Nominated Postholder Flight Operations, as well as line pilot in various airlines. Ernest holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management and has a background in international project management and quality management system implementation.
